In what I think was an awesome gesture by the good folks at Strikeforce, the organization paid both Mark Miller and Deray Davis both their 'show' fee and potential win bonuses from getting bumped from last Saturday's Fedor/Rogers show in Chicago, Il.
Both local welterweights, the two were supposed to fight on the untelevised portion of the show but got bumped and were expected to fight after the main event concluded. However for some reason, that didn't happen and the two didn't get the chance to fight.
After the group unsuccessfully tried to make the fight for later this month in Chicago, they gave both guys paydays for their trouble.
The show fee was immediately announced, but because of the lost sponsorship opps and overall annoyance of not being able to fight when they trained for it, they gave them the win bonuses too. Good gesture, but I'm still confused as to why they didn't fight when the cameras went off.
Miller (seen above) went into Saturday at 9-5 and previously competed in the IFL, while Davis was 5-1-1. Both guys are Chicago-area fighters.
