Some news and notes via the good folks at MMA Rated from today's UFC press conference in Chicago to help push UFC 90: Anderson Silva vs. Patrick Cote on 10/25.
-Mike Swick has been added to the card, but an opponent hasn't been named.
-Chicago apparently earned this event as UFC Prez Dana White said they are the no. 1 market for PPV revenue and that the gate for this event will be the highest-grossing in the 28-year history of Allstate Arena.
-Silva could fight again at 205 with a win over Cote. White hinted at a catch-weight battle between Silva and Georges St. Pierre down the road.
-The winner of Diego Sanchez vs. Thiago Alves will get a shot at Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre.
Also from AOL's Fanhouse, Alves is walking around at 200 pounds but vows he will not have any issues cutting down 30 pounds by the 25th. Weight-cutting is both fascinating and disturbing to watch as that can't be good for your body to yo-yo up and down like that. You'll remember that Alves was four pounds overweight for his eventual win over Matt Hughes back in June, which caused a lot of grumbles within the business. When Alves steps on the scales the night of the 24th, a lot more eyes than normal will be interested.
